Grove Redesign Coming Soon!

We are delighted to announce that Grove Music Online will be undergoing a complete redesign in early 2008, forming the centerpiece of an important new online gateway, Oxford Music Online. Oxford Music Online will be the new access point for new and forthcoming Oxford music reference subscriptions and products, offering users the ability, for the first time ever, to access and cross-search Grove and Oxford reference content in one location.

At the heart of Oxford Music Online will be Grove Music Online with a new, improved interface and greatly enhanced functionality. Grove Music Online will be accompanied by two classic Oxford music reference titles, The Oxford Companion to Music and The Oxford Dictionary of Music. These will be fully cross-searchable with Grove in the new Oxford Music Online environment.

Grove Music Online's many improvements and enhancements will include a completely new and user-friendly interface, sophisticated advanced search capabilities, improved biographical searching, OpenURL compliance, an expanded cross-reference system, and more. We are especially pleased to announce several new partnerships which we believe will be of great benefit to users of Grove Music Online. Subscribers to Classical Music Library, or the Database of Recorded Music (DRAM) will benefit from links from Grove articles directly to those sites, allowing readers of Grove to access relevant sound recordings available through these two outstanding resources. The new Grove Music Online will also include a long-anticipated partnership with the indispensable bibliographic database RILM. A link from the top of the bibliography of every article in Grove will allow readers to move from Grove's selective bibliographies to a search of the extensive content of the RILM database. At launch this is available to subscribers to RILM through OCLC, EBSCOhost, and CSA.

We are also pleased to announce that, by popular demand, the first-ever online edition of Colin Larkin's critically acclaimed The Encyclopedia of Popular Music, 4th edition, will be available through Oxford Music Online by subscription and searchable with Grove and the Oxford Reference works. A recipient of Starred Reviews in Library Journal — "An essential purchase for all libraries!" — and Booklist — "The most comprehensive guide to popular music" — for its November 2006, 10-volume print edition, the Encyclopedia of Popular Music online will be an welcome acquisition for any reference collection.

To be added in 2008 is Richard Taruskin's Oxford History of Western Music, which will be available for one-time purchase. Even more quality Oxford and Grove resources will be accessible through Oxford Music Online in future updates.
